From the
Introduction: "My purpose in this book is to present
images of reality that are both illuminated by spirit and grounded in
science.
"Following...advice to truth seekers,
I have examined three radically different frames of reference: aspects of
theoretical physics, mysticism, and the paranormal. I have found in these
three sources enough similarities to construct what I believe to be a
coherent image of reality that could open the door to a profound new
understanding of the universe.
"The first of these is the work of
David Bohn, a theoretical physicist. His concept of reality is indirect,
arising from the logical consequences of the algorithms of quantum theory
and relativity theory.
"The second is Ken Wilber, a modern
authority on the Perennial Philosophy. His overview is based on the
accounts of mystics, who, through altered states of mind, have directly
experienced a mysterious domain beyond our ordinary perceptions.
"Our third source is
"channeled" through a medium. He is Seth, a discarnate
personality whose prolific views on the nature of reality were
communicated through Jane Roberts. Although this notion is guaranteed to
elicit strong emotional reactions along the range from skepticism to
scorn, the ideas presented by this "entity" are not only
intriguing but intellectually challenging...Seth descriptions are
remarkably consistent with the physical theories of David Bohm."
Pat's Comments: Early
in my spiritual questing, I came across the Seth Material in a bookstore.
I remember reaching for the book, looking at the cover, deciding that it
was too weird, and putting it back. Three weekends I did this. On the
fourth weekend I decided to go ahead and buy the durn book. And I'm very
glad that I did. The Seth Material has given me much wonderful information
and helped to change the course of my life. Seth is the first teacher I
heard say the phrase, "You create your own reality."
But I didn't want to take Seth's word for
it! I needed more validation, more information, more experience with his
ideas. Not long after, I noticed that the ideas coming out of quantum
physics were saying pretty much the same thing that Seth was saying. I
became hooked. Coming from an arts (creativity) background, I had to read
a lot of introductory books on the new physics (I still need to). I can't
help but want the whole world to read this book that talks about both the
new physics and the Seth Material! Unfortunately, it's a bit heavy on the
left-brain, technical side, so it's not a good book to start with. But I
know that there are some folks who want really meaty left-brain
stuff; here's the book for you!
