Book Cover Your Body Is Your Subconscious Mind (CD)
by Candace Pert, Ph.D.

Publisher's Information: "Your Brain Is Not in Charge." This revelation by Dr. Candace Pert challenges conventional science--and everyone interested in total wellness--to reconsider how our bodies think, feel, and heal. As the leading pioneer in a radical new science of life, this bestselling author and world class neuroscientist has given us an inside look at the molecular drama being staged within every cell of the human body--and a glimpse into the future of medicine. Now, in her own words, Dr. Pert describes her extraordinary search for the grail of the body's inborn intelligence with Your Body Is Your Subconscious Mind. Join Dr. Pert as she describes her efforts over the past two decades to actually decode the "information molecules," such as peptides and their receptors, that regulate every aspect of human physiology. Her model of how these biochemicals flow and resonate, distributing information to every cell in the body simultaneously, has unlocked the secret of how emotions literally transform our bodies--and create our health.

From the wisdom of the body to the wisdom of the laboratory, Your Body Is Your Subconscious Mind takes you on a scientific adventure of the first order, escorted by this pathfinder, iconoclast, and "goddess" of neuroscience.

Pat's Comments: Based upon the work presented in her book, Molecules of Emotion, the first tape in this set includes a talk by Dr. Pert recorded in front of a live audience (the producers don't say who or where). The second tape is of an interview by Sounds True host, Tammy Simon. I read Molecules and certainly recommend it. It tells the story of how Dr. Pert made her discoveries and developed her theories, balancing personal and professional life and trying to work within the scientific political system. In my opinion, the tape set may be a better learning tool--it focuses more on helping the listener understand Dr. Pert's work, her body/mind model, and it's practical applications. You also get a good sense of her personality on the tape. I suggest you listen to the tape first and if you really want more information, get the book.
